A visit to Olympic Airlines’ hangar Olympic Airlines technical base, Athens Int’l Airport “El. Venizelos” Wanting to get better acquainted with the world of aviation maintenance in Greece, members of the Hellenic Aviation Enthusiasts Society “Air-born” visited the Olympic Airlines Services technical base at the Athens International Airport. Members of their Technical Training staff gave us a tour around the hangar where both heavy and light maintenance is taking place not just on Olympic Airlines’ aircraft but also for other airlines as well. The tour went on to cover the various shops, corrosion control, non-destructive inspection, engine overhaul, everything including the classrooms thus enabling us to familiarize ourselves with all aspects of maintenance and training the company’s Technical Base has to offer.
Establishing our mutual love for aviation, we saw aircraft currently undergoing maintenance and we were informed on this vital, for flight safety, aspect.
Promising we will return sometime in the near future, we would like to especially thank Mrs. Ioanna Anagnostou and Mr. Alexander Panagiotides for their help in planning this visit and for their warm hospitality during our stay at the Technical Base. |
