"Air-born" at Le Bourget

Behind the series of agreements and orders associated with the Aviation Salon at Le Bourget there is always a part dedicated to the wider public, the part with the static exhibits and the flying displays. It was this aspect we wanted to acquaint ourselves with, during our visit at the “Salon International de l’ Aéronautique et de l’ Espace Le Bourget 2007” which took place, as always, at the old Paris airport.

The place where Charles Lindbergh landed after his transatlantic voyage hosted among others, an Airbus A380 in house colours and a Boeing 777-300 of Jet Airways.

While the crowd was marvelling the colourful Kingfisher ATR or even while they were swarming the exhibitors’ kiosks, we turned our attention towards the jewels of the Musée de l’ Air et de l’ Espace also at Le Bourget. The Air France 747-100 was open for visitors unlike the two Concordes, the Air France 707, the Air Inter Mercure and the rest museum exhibits which remained closed and away from the public during those days.

And although everyone was waiting for the A380 flight display and the impressive maneuvers of the Eurofighter/Typhoon, of the Rafale, of the F-16 and the F/A 18, it was the John Travolta 707, parked opposite the display grandstand and the classic figure of the Super Constellation with which the three-hour long flying display programme was concluded, that really stole the show.
