On Monday, September
17th,
members of Aviation Enthusiasts
Society “Air Born” had the opportunity to attend an intriguing activity
regarding cargo flight services at the AIA “Eleftherios Venizelos”.
The aircraft of DHL was standing on the AIA’s apron since the early morning
hours. Our members, after being informed about the operation process of
cargo station of European Air Transport (EAT) in Athens as well as the
freight unloading/loading/forwarding procedure, had the chance to stand at
the airport's apron, close to the aircraft and witness the whole process. The
aircraft departed shortly after 20.30p.m. for Pergamo, Italy, thus offering
our members the chance to
embark on photographic coverage of the nightly departure.
Undoubtedly, it was a
most special visit, combined with a unique contact with the world of cargo
flights that function differently to commercial ones. Impressed by the visit
along with the overall tour, we exchanged gifts with the executive in charge
of DHL/EAT and renewed our appointment for a future meeting.
For their contribution to
this visit our Association would like to thank:
Mr. Ioannis Kaptanis, Airport Manager of DHL/EAT, for the tour,
Mr. Dimitrios Stamatiou, Country Operations Director of DHL/EAT,
Mr. Alexis Sioris, Manager Cargo Development at AIA,
Mrs. Teta Petroula as well as AIA Public Relations Office.
